The Importance of Iron

October 13, 2012

About one in five women of reproductive age have iron deficiencies. The experiences can range from shortness of breath to feeling lethargic, tired and run down. This is especially true for vegans who do not get enough iron in their food. Iron is very important for the body, as it carries oxygen to the brain and tissues. A lack of iron can lead to a short of oxygen, resulting in apathy, shortened attention span, fatigue and problems concentrating. Other symptoms are cold hands and feet, split nails and restless legs. Also, without iron, your body has a more difficult time processing B vitamins, which can make you susceptible to illnesses and infections. So, especially this upcoming winter season, make sure to eat meals that are rich in iron.

Are you getting enough iron?

Wow! Not only am I thrilled with my results, I also must say that this experience was so much easier than I thought it would be! From the virtual consultation, to the virtual appointments that I had after my surgery… they made it so easy to check in with my doctor. I don’t live in Newport, but it didn’t matter. I was still able to get the surgery that I wanted there! 10/10 would recommend!!
