(00:07) Let’s talk a little bit about the buttocks area. I didn’t realize how many women, when coming in inquiring about a mommy makeover, actually ask about volumizing, the buttocks. Let’s talk about how you do this and how you can repair them back to their youthful look.  As I mentioned before, the fat cells tend to have receptors, and there are certain areas as I mentioned, where fat tends to grow. There are also areas,  where fat that is normally placed that tends to shrink and atrophy.  Some of those areas, for example, are the buttocks, actually the cheeks.

(00:38) Not only the cheeks of your buttocks but also the cheeks in your face as well.  Of interest, is that your checks tend to become flatter and less shapely.  So to restore that natural curve of the buttocks for aesthetics, or to make your buttocks larger, we can transfer fat from other areas of the body.  We can also place implants, but the fat transfer, what’s commonly called a Brazilian butt lift is a wonderful procedure because the downtime is minimal.

What is Brazilian Butt Lift?

Buttock augmentation is a surgical procedure to enhance the size, shape, and symmetry of your butt. This may involve a fat transfer procedure, also known as the Brazilian Butt Lift, or implants. A Brazilian Butt Lift or a procedure with implants can effectively enhance your backside. Each procedure has its own benefits that our surgeons will review with you.

Brazilian Butt Lift (Fat Grafting)

During your Brazilian Butt Lift, your surgeon will use liposuction techniques to harvest excess fat from a donor site, like your abdomen or thighs. Next, they will process your fat cells in a centrifuge to remove impurities, then place your purified fat cells into your buttocks through tiny incisions. Your surgeon will insert small amounts of fat cells into several areas of your buttocks to ensure even distribution and natural-looking results.

Brazilian Butt Lifts are such a popular procedure due to their multifaceted benefits, which often lead to an all-over figure transformation. During the procedure, patients commonly have fat harvested from their waist or love handles. This creates a slimmer, smoother contour from the waist to the hip, which amplifies the buttocks for a more dramatic hourglass shape.

While butt implants can provide an even more dramatic volume increase, many patients prefer the contouring effect of a Brazilian Butt Lift that results in an overall improvement to their silhouette and body balance.

Butt Implants

With this method, your surgeon will use implants sized for your body instead of fat transfer to improve the appearance of your butt. During your procedure, they will likely make incisions in the natural creases of your buttocks. Through these incisions, they will place implants in your butt to add volume and definition.

Your recovery after buttock augmentation will depend on the techniques used. After BBL, it is crucial not to put any pressure on your buttocks, and you should not lie on your back for several weeks. Putting pressure on your buttocks too soon may damage the transferred fat cells and affect your final results. If you have butt implants, you should also avoid sitting for several weeks to keep tension off your incisions.

You may resume your normal activities after about one month and resume more strenuous exercise after approximately two months once you are cleared to do so.

A Brazilian Butt Lift with fat grafting is considered a “semi-permanent” procedure since the results should last as long as your fat cells stay the same size. They will still grow and shrink like normal, depending on your diet and exercise habits. 

If you receive butt implants, you will immediately notice an increase in volume and can enjoy your true results after the swelling fades completely. Butt implants are long-lasting, but you may need to replace them after approximately 15 years.
