How Safe is a LiteLift®?

January 15, 2025

If you have loose or sagging skin, lines and wrinkles, or drooping jowls, you may be considering a facelift. It’s normal to have questions about how safe the procedure will be. LiteLift® is a less invasive facelift performed by experienced surgeons, making your procedure as safe as possible. However, all surgical procedures have risks, so choosing a skilled, qualified surgical team is the best way to keep yourself safe.

What is a LiteLift®?

LiteLift® is a type of facelift or rhytidectomy. Your experienced Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery team considers LiteLift® to be the “gold standard” for facelifts due to its effectiveness and shorter recovery time. This procedure is ideal for those who want to address signs of aging, such as lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity.

How Safe is a LiteLift®?

There are no risk-free surgical procedures. However, you can take several steps to make your procedure as safe as possible. The most important is to research your surgeon and surgical team fully. All of your Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery surgeons are experienced, board-certified experts who specialize in LiteLift®.

You should also learn more about the procedure itself, such as where it takes place and how it is performed. A LiteLift® is performed in our Newport Beach facility with a range of anesthesia options for your safety and comfort. The procedure is less invasive than a traditional facelift, causing less tissue trauma and lowering the risk of complications.

Facelifts, in general, are very safe when performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon, and complications are rare. LiteLift® uses smaller incisions and less invasive techniques to lower your risk even more. Your safety is always our priority, even if it means we recommend against surgery. You will also receive superb post-surgical care from your Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery team and regular follow-ups with your surgeon.

How is a LiteLift® Performed?

Your LiteLift® is a customized procedure tailored to your needs. We usually use a combination of oral sedation and local anesthesia, ensuring your comfort without the risks of deeper sedation. Some people will benefit from IV sedation or general anesthesia. We will discuss your preferences and the benefits of each option. The use of local anesthesia is an advancement in safety and carries much less risk than general anesthesia.

Your surgeon will make small incisions hidden in your hairline and around your ears. These incisions are used to lift and reposition the skin and underlying layers of muscles and connective tissue. Addressing these deeper structures is the key to natural-looking LiteLift® results. After achieving the desired lift and tightening, your surgeon uses sutures to close the incisions.

Many patients have a LiteLift® in combination with another procedure. Popular options include a neck lift, eyelid lift, and brow lift. These procedures address areas not treated by a facelift, such as the eyes, neck, and forehead. You can also add non-surgical options at our BioSpa

What is Recovery Like After a LiteLift®?

Most patients will experience mild discomfort and some bruising or swelling in the first few days after their procedure. Our LiteLift® procedure allows many patients to return to work in just a few days, especially if you have a low-activity job or work from home. You may need an extra day or two if you combine your LiteLift® with another procedure. Your surgeon will monitor your progress and let you know when you can safely resume your usual activities.

What Results Will I See After My LiteLift®?

Your bruising and swelling will fade quickly during the first few weeks. Your results may continue to evolve for several months. You will notice that you look more youthful and refreshed. These resultscan last a lifetime, although you will continue to experience the normal effects of aging.

Am I a Good Candidate for a LiteLift®?

Most healthy men and women who want to correct signs of aging can benefit from LiteLift®. The use of local anesthesia eliminates the risks that come with general anesthesia and makes the procedure safer and easier for you. Good candidates for a LiteLift® facelift have reasonable expectations and no major health problems.

My husband saw dr Nichter. He recommended surgery. He also made recommendations about skin tags on his face & other parts of his body that could possibly be cancerous. Our whole experience at the center was wonderful.
