Life-Changing Results

Even at their ideal weight, many people struggle with stubborn fat deposits that don’t respond to healthy eating and exercise. We understand how frustrating this can be, and we want to help you reach your goals with the contoured body you’ve dreamed of. Our surgeons have extensive experience performing fat-reduction procedures like liposuction to target areas of persistent fat.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction, commonly called lipo, is a surgical procedure that removes stubborn pockets of fat to achieve a more sculpted figure. At Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery, our experienced board-certified plastic surgeons strive to provide the best liposuction results Newport Beach has to offer.

This popular cosmetic procedure removes bulges of unwanted fat to dramatically improve the shape of your overall figure. Liposuction can treat almost any area of the body, including your thighs, abdomen, hips, upper arms, back, and under the chin.

Liposuction reduces the number of fat cells in targeted areas to sculpt the shape of the body. These fat cells can then be added to a more desirable area through fat transfer if you wish. During your consultation, your surgeon will examine your areas of concern and discuss your aesthetic goals to ensure you achieve your desired outcome.

Our team will carefully review your medical history, and your surgeon may direct you to stop using some medications and supplements temporarily. Your safety and the best possible outcome are the top priorities. Your surgeon will thoroughly explain what you can expect in terms of the recovery process as well during your consultation.

We also want you to have affordable access to your desired treatment and offer various financing options for you to choose from. We will work with you to make the application process as simple as possible if you would like to consider financing.

Learn More About Liposuction

Liposuction is typically performed under general anesthesia but may be done using only local anesthesia for small, detailed areas. We will recommend the best option for you during your consultation.

When the liposuction procedure begins, fluid will be injected into the treatment area that contains diluted local anesthesia. Then, your surgeon will make tiny incisions over the treatment areas so they can insert a cannula, a thin tube, to break up and remove your stubborn fat cells with suction. Your surgeon may also use advanced ultrasound or laser technology to assist with the liposuction procedure.

VASER® (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance) liposuction uses patented ultrasound technology to remove unwanted fat. This technique is less invasive than conventional liposuction and usually requires less downtime.

Your liposuction procedure can last several hours, depending on the size of your treatment areas. The length of the procedure may increase if you choose to also undergo fat transfer or an additional procedure such as a tummy tuck.

A few hours after your procedure, you can have someone drive you home. We usually recommend you arrange to have someone stay with you for at least the first night after your procedure.

After your fat removal surgery, you can typically expect one to two weeks of recovery, depending on the size of the treated areas and the amount of fat removed. Generally, you can expect to experience swelling, bruising, and general discomfort during this time. Your surgeon will prescribe pain relievers as needed. Some patients may have some postoperative numbness that subsides over time.

After liposuction, most patients can return to work within approximately one week, depending on the techniques used and their individual healing process. However, with today’s increasing work-from-home culture, you may be able to return to work sooner. We encourage our liposuction patients to start moving around and going on short walks the day after surgery to promote blood circulation and speed up recovery. You will likely need to wear compression garments for a few weeks to promote healing.

After liposuction, you can expect a slimmer body contour with fewer pockets of stubborn fat. Your final results should become apparent once the swelling disappears. It can take up to six months for your treated areas to heal completely. Results are approximately 90 percent visible within three months of surgery.

Once we eliminate stubborn fat cells, they cannot return or “grow back.” As a result, the effects of your fat removal surgery can last indefinitely. However, you can still gain weight and fat in untreated areas. Establishing a healthy routine with a proper diet and regular exercise should help you achieve long-lasting results after treatment.

Both men and women can benefit from liposuction. The best candidates for liposuction are active adults who are within their healthy weight range but struggle to remove unwanted pockets of fat.

Remember that liposuction is not an alternative to weight loss. It is also important to note that it is not a treatment for dimpled skin (cellulite) or stretch marks. If you are interested in treating these conditions, we have other treatment options for you.

Our board-certified plastic surgeons have helped thousands of patients achieve their aesthetic goals through liposuction. They can gladly discuss your body contouring options to determine if liposuction is right for you.

The cost of your liposuction procedure will largely depend on how many areas are being treated. There are several additional factors that influence the cost of liposuction, including your geographic location and your provider’s experience. The average cost of liposuction at Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery is $3,200 to $4,800, but this doesn’t include associated expenses such as anesthesia and facility fees.

Your total cost will depend greatly on your unique procedure. The techniques and technologies that are used will affect the price, as well as if you’re having liposuction done alone or in combination with another procedure, such as fat transfer. During your consultation, we’ll be able to develop an individualized treatment plan and a corresponding price quote.
