What Lip Surgery Options Do You Offer?

There are many ways to perform lip rejuvenation based on your preferences and your surgeon’s recommendations. Our board-certified plastic surgeons will use one or a combination of the following techniques to enhance your lips:

Lip Shortening (Lip Lift)

A lip lift is a surgical procedure that can make your top lip look fuller, providing you with natural-looking, rejuvenated lips. This upper lip lift procedure involves removing excess skin and shortening the space between the base of your nose and your upper lip. Your surgeon at PCPS will lift the skin upwards and anchor it to the base of your nose, making your lip vermilion (the pink part of your lips) more visible.

Fat/Tissue Transfer

A fat transfer involves taking fat from another area of the body, like the thighs or abdomen using liposuction techniques. Then your surgeon places the prepared fat cells in your lips using a thin syringe. They may also use tissue and skin as part of the transfer to reshape and enhance your lips.

Lip Implants

Lip implants are placed by making a tiny incision within the mouth. The board-certified surgeons at Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery can customize Gortex and Softform implants in shape and size, depending on your goals. Unlike fillers, lip implants are a permanent solution for lip enhancement.

Corner Lip Lift

A corner lift lip is an effective surgical procedure that involves removing skin to lift the corners of your mouth. Your surgeons will make incisions on both sides of your mouth, remove excess tissue, and elevate the corners. You can also pair a corner lip lift with an upper lip lift for optimal enhancement.

Lip Reduction

While many patients are searching for ways to restore fullness to their lips, there are some who wish to reduce the volume in their lips. During lip reduction surgery, your board-certified plastic surgeon will make a horizontal incision inside your mouth. They will then remove excess fat and tissues from your lower or upper lips or both to reduce volume.

Learn More About Lip Surgery

Your recovery after lip augmentation will depend on the technique used. For a fat transfer, you will need to heal at both the placement site and the donor site, but recovery is typically fast. Implants can involve a few days of swelling and bruising.

A lip lift procedure will also cause some bruising and swelling and may require approximately a week of downtime. Dermal fillers and Botox® injections require no downtime, but some redness may be present for the first several hours, and minor swelling or bruising can occur at the injection site. A knowledgeable member of our team will provide you with recovery information and instructions at the time of your consultation.

Typically, you can notice immediate results from your lip surgical procedure. Final results can be seen when any swelling or bruising dissipates. The longevity of your results will depend on the type of lip enhancement you received. With fillers, results can last for several months and up to a year but are not permanent. Fat transfer results can last much longer, and implants are permanent. The results of a lip lift are permanent as well, and age naturally with your face over time.

Patients who want to achieve fuller, rounder lips to enhance and balance their facial appearance may be ideal candidates for lip augmentation or lip surgery. If you are unhappy with the appearance of your lips or the surrounding area and want a temporary solution, fillers or Botox® may be a great option. If you want a more permanent solution, fat transfer to the lips, a lip lift, or lip implants may be the best treatments for you.

Healthy patients can benefit from lip enhancement to address the following concerns:

  • Naturally thin/small lips
  • Thinning lips with age
  • Asymmetrical lips
  • Wrinkles around the lips
  • “Gummy smile” appearance
  • Overly long upper lip

To determine which lip enhancement treatment is best for you, we invite you to schedule an appointment with the board-certified surgeons at Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery. If you are only considering non-surgical approaches like dermal fillers or Botox® to enhance your lips, please visit our injection specialists at the BioSpa.

Since there are several procedure options available for lip augmentation, the cost varies significantly. The overall cost is also influenced by factors such as your geographic location and your provider’s experience. The national average cost of lip fillers is $750, but surgical procedures are typically significantly more. A lip lift at Pacific Center ranges from $4,000 to $6,000, while augmentation with fat transfer costs $3,360 to $5,040. Depending on the technique your surgeon uses, there may be associated expenses for facility fees, anesthesia, and implants.

For an accurate estimate, we encourage you to consult with a member of our team at the Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery. If you are interested, we can explain our financing options that allow you to break your treatment into affordable monthly payments.
