Sufficient Fat Needed
In order to be a good candidate for a natural breast augmentation, your plastic surgeon will need to be able to harvest a sufficient amount of fat to effectively enlarge your breasts. Many patients use this as an opportunity to slim down trouble areas such as the stomach and hips. The fat is harvested from these areas using liposuction and is then purified, processed and reinjected through tiny incisions.

Lower Risk
In general, the use of foreign materials in the body carries some risk even though the safety with implants has come a long way. However, a natural breast augmentation is perfect for patients looking to have both a natural looking enhancement while avoiding placement of a foreign object in their body. Since the fat is your own, there is very little risk of a negative reaction once transferred. The only issue with the use of fat is not knowing how much will survive the transfer. The good news is that a secondary procedure can easily be performed should more volume be desired.
Level of Enhancement
One of the biggest differences between a natural augmentation and an augmentation using implants is the level of enhancement possible when using fat transfer. An augmentation using fat transfer will appear larger immediately; and after the procedure and over the healing process, will eventually reduce to be one half to one full cup size larger than your original breasts. This level of enhancement may be too subtle for some, making implants a better choice.
