How Long is Recovery After a Brazilian Butt Lift?

A rounder, larger derrière can enhance your curves, make your clothes fit better, and boost your confidence. A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) in Newport Beach uses your own body fat to add volume and definition to your buttocks. Because a BBL does require recovery time, you should understand what to expect as you heal.

What is a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)?

A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a popular cosmetic surgery procedure that enhances the shape and size of your buttocks. The procedure involves the transfer of fat from other parts of the body, such as the stomach, hips, or thighs, to the buttocks. A Brazilian Butt Lift, also known as butt augmentation, can help you achieve rounder, fuller, and more defined back side.

How Does a Brazilian Butt Lift Work?

The procedure begins with liposuction performed by one of our board-certified plastic surgeons. Unwanted fat is removed from areas such as the stomach, hips, or thighs. The fat is processed and purified before being strategically injected into the buttocks to add volume and shape.

The fat is typically injected in multiple layers to ensure a natural and even look. Your surgeon at Pacific Center for Plastic Surgery in Newport Beach may also reshape the buttocks to achieve a more lifted and contoured appearance. The procedure typically takes 2-4 hours and is done under general anesthesia.

How Long is Recovery After a Brazilian Butt Lift?

After your BBL, it’s very important to follow the instructions from your surgeon. Immediately after the procedure, you can expect swelling and some discomfort. You will need to wear a compression garment for several weeks to help with swelling and to help maintain the shape of the newly injected fat.

Avoid sitting or lying directly on the buttocks for at least 2-3 weeks to allow the fat to settle and prevent displacement. Strenuous activities and exercise should be avoided for at least 6-8 weeks. Some patients may be able to return to work within a week or two of the surgery, while others may need up to four weeks of rest.

Should I Have a BBL or Butt Implants?

Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL) and butt implants are two different ways to enhance the shape and size of the buttocks. Implants are silicone-based prosthetics that are surgically placed in the buttocks to add volume. BBL is considered a more natural option since it uses your own fat. It also has the added benefit of removing unwanted fat from other parts of the body. BBL results tend to look and feel more natural than implants. We recommend a consultation to determine the best choice for you. We offer both virtual and in-person consultations with our Newport Beach plastic surgeons.

Am I a Good Candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift?

You may be a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) if you have enough fat in other parts of your body to use for the procedure. BBL requires fat removal through liposuction, which is then processed and injected into the buttocks to enhance shape and size. Good candidates are in good health, and are at a stable weight with realistic expectations for the procedure.

Wow! Not only am I thrilled with my results, I also must say that this experience was so much easier than I thought it would be! From the virtual consultation, to the virtual appointments that I had after my surgery… they made it so easy to check in with my doctor. I don’t live in Newport, but it didn’t matter. I was still able to get the surgery that I wanted there! 10/10 would recommend!!
