What is Lip Augmentation?

Lip augmentation is a term that applies to any lip-enhancing procedure. These range from temporary to life-long. We will work with you to achieve your lip augmentation goals in a way that fits your busy life and gives you the results you’re looking for.

Lip Fillers

Lip fillers are a non-surgical option for lip augmentation. The most commonly used lip fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps to hydrate and plump the skin. The brand name that many patients recognize is JUVÉDERM. Lip fillers are a popular choice for those looking for a quick and easy way to enhance their lips. They can be done in a quick appointment at our Newport Beach office, and the results are immediately visible. The effects of lip fillers typically last for about 6 to 12 months.

Fat Transfer

Another option for lip augmentation is fat transfer. This procedure involves taking fat from another area of the body, such as the abdomen or thighs, and injecting it into the lips. Fat transfer is a very natural option for lip augmentation. The results of fat transfer can be long-lasting. We can also perform this treatment in-office under local anesthesia or this can be performed at the same time as a larger procedure such as a facelift, neck lift, or mommy makeover.

Lip Implants

Lip implants are an alternative surgical option for lip augmentation. They are made of a soft, pliable material inserted into the lips to add volume. Lip implants are intended to stay in place for life and are made of a body-safe material that your surgeon can manipulate to fit your features.

Which Type of Lip Augmentation is Best for Me?

We recommend a consultation with our board-certified team in Newport Beach to determine the ideal form of lip augmentation for your needs. If you have never tried dermal fillers before, they offer an introduction to lip augmentation without the long-term commitment. Many of our patients are very happy with lip filler, but some prefer a longer-lasting option. You may prefer fat transfer or a lip implant if you love the look of fuller lips and want them to last longer.

What is Recovery Like From Lip Augmentation?

Dermal fillers require little to no downtime, making them a popular option for patients who cannot take time off for recovery. You can return to work after your treatment, although your lips may look swollen for a few days. There is a risk of bruising as well, so we advise patients to plan ahead around their social calendar. Fat transfer and lip implants require a few days of downtime. We’ll discuss recovery considerations and what you should know at your consultation to help you properly plan for your treatment.

I was very impressed with Pacific Center for plastic surgery. I went for a consultation with Dr. Nichter and he couldn’t of been more caring, patient or knowledgeable. I was very impressed with how much time he spent going over my medical history before even discussing any kind of surgery. I felt so comfortable that I had made a great choice in choosing a surgeon. The office staff was also extremely helpful. I really enjoyed meeting Dominique, Coco and Kara. They were all very courteous and professional. I highly recommend this office and Dr. Nichter.
