How is a Litelift® Different From a Facelift?

August 11, 2023

You might consider a facelift if you have noticed sagging skin and wrinkles that make you look older. LiteLift®, pioneered by our very own Dr. Nichter and Dr. Horowitz, gives you a less invasive option for moderate skin laxity, wrinkles, and creases. This innovative procedure is light on scars and recovery, but big on results!

What is LiteLift®?

A LiteLift® procedure is a minimally invasive alternative to traditional facelift surgery. It is a procedure that aims to lift, tighten, and rejuvenate the skin on the face. It reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and improves your overall skin tone and texture. Our signature LiteLift® is a popular option for those who are looking to achieve a more youthful appearance but are not ready to commit to a full facelift.

How Does the Litelift® Work?

A LiteLift® begins with small incisions along the hairline, typically at the temples and above the ears. Your board-certified plastic surgeon separates the skin from the underlying tissue, tightens the facial muscles, and repositions the skin to create a more youthful appearance. The procedure is typically performed in-office under local anesthesia. Most of our patients prefer this option, but if you would like to consider general anesthesia, you have that option as well. The LiteLift® procedure may take around 2-3 hours, depending on the extent of the lift and the individual patient’s needs.

How is a LiteLift® Different From a Facelift?

A facelift, also known as a rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the face and neck by removing excess skin and tightening underlying muscles. The procedure can address various issues, such as wrinkles, sagging skin, and jowls.

On the other hand, a LiteLift® is a less invasive alternative to a traditional facelift. It is a minimally invasive procedure that uses small incisions and a specialized technique to lift and tighten the skin on the face and neck. Unlike a traditional facelift, the LiteLift® procedure does not require extensive skin removal. It is a great option for those who may not be candidates for a traditional facelift or those looking for a more subtle enhancement to their appearance.

Another key difference is that the LiteLift® is done with a shorter procedure time and because of the special techniques used, the recovery is less as well. This also makes it a more accessible option for those with busy schedules who don’t have as much time for recovery.

What is Recovery Like After a LiteLift®?

One of the main differences between a facelift and a LiteLift® is the recovery time. A traditional facelift can require several weeks of recovery time, while a LiteLift® typically only requires a few days of recovery. There may be some swelling and bruising in the treated area for some time, but this is usually minor and much less than what is expected after a traditional facelift. Patients can typically return to normal activities within a week but should avoid strenuous exercise for a few weeks. As with any procedure, it is important to closely follow the instructions of your surgeon to achieve the best results.

Wow! Not only am I thrilled with my results, I also must say that this experience was so much easier than I thought it would be! From the virtual consultation, to the virtual appointments that I had after my surgery… they made it so easy to check in with my doctor. I don’t live in Newport, but it didn’t matter. I was still able to get the surgery that I wanted there! 10/10 would recommend!!
