BROW LIFT in NEWPORT BEACH
FOREHEAD LIFT, UPPER FACE LIFT
A Brow Lift (also known as a Forehead Lift or an Upper Face Lift) is a surgical facial enhancement procedure designed to lift the brow and eliminate wrinkles on the forehead. People with droopy or sagging brows can have a sad, angry, or tired appearance; a brow lift can make that person look more happy and energetic.
IS A BROW LIFT RIGHT FOR ME?
The most common signs of a patient who would benefit from a brow lift are:
- A low position of the eyebrows and/or “hooding” of the upper eyelids,
- Deep horizontal lines across the forehead,
- Furrows (“frown lines” or “worry lines”) between the eyebrows.
If you feel that your face does not reflect how happy, young, and energetic you actually feel, then you may be a candidate for a brow lift.
The best way to find out if a brow lift is right for you is to consult with our doctors. Our expert surgeons will examine your skin, including its texture and elasticity, and evaluate the tone of your underlying facial tissues and bone structure. Dr. Nichter or Dr. Horowitz will also consider the aesthetics of your eyes and how a brow lift would affect their appearance.
A brow lift can also adjust the position of your hair line, lowering it if it is too high or raising it if it is too low.
If a patient’s primary concern is the “frown” or “worry” lines between the eyebrows and at the top of the nose, a limited brow lift to address only this problem may be possible.
Brow lifts are very versatile procedures which can be performed a number of ways to varying degrees. The outside (lateral) brow can be raised or the entire brow, depending on what is required. This is why it is so important to select a highly qualified surgeon to match your needs and goals with the right procedure.
HOW IS A BROW LIFT PERFORMED?
Brow lifts are done on an outpatient basis. They can be performed under general anesthesia or under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation.
The specific procedure your brow lift entails will depend on your needs. Factors such as whether entire brow or only the outer brow is to be raised, repositioning of the hairline, and the patient’s individual facial contours will determine the placement and extent of the incisions.
By using a beveled incision technique, our surgeons preserve as many of your hair follicles as possible. This means that individual hairs will grow into the scar area, often hiding it to the extent that you could wear your hair pulled back.
