The LiteLift™ is a modified facelift developed by our board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Jed Horowitz and Dr. Larry Nichter. The doctors created this facelift technique with the goal of providing a less invasive, natural looking option for women and men wanting to refresh their appearance with less downtime and fewer risks. The LiteLift™ is a "real" facelift, which does address the underlying muscle, tissue, and overlying skin. It is not a superficial skin lift like other mini-lifts performed elsewhere. The LiteLift™ facelift is also not a “Thread-lift” or “String-lift,” and is not to be confused with the mega facelift chain “Lifestyle Lift,” which has closed its doors nationwide.
The doctors use limited incisions, which become virtually undetectable over time. Traditional facelift techniques require extensive incisions, which can be noticeable to others, especially when wearing hair up or pulled away from the face.
The procedure does not give patients the over-done plastic look so many people are fearful of with facelift surgery. The doctors use a vertical lifting approach, which results in looking years younger in a natural refreshed way. This is in contrast to how traditional facelifts are performed by lifting or pulling the face towards the ears horizontally resulting in a very unnatural appearance.
The LiteLift™ modified facelift technique perfected by Doctors Horowitz and Nichter results in less swelling, bruising, and healing compared to traditional facelift procedures. Most LiteLift™ patients have their procedure performed under local anesthesia, which reduces healing time, because they don’t experience the after effects of general anesthesia. Many patients are able to go back to work within one week.
Women and men who are frustrated with the signs of aging such as loose skin, fines lines & wrinkles, jowling, deep nasolabial folds, or fullness/sagging under the neck. Individuals must have realistic expectations about what can and cannot be achieved and be medically eligible to have surgery. Some medical conditions, and prescription medications which cannot be stopped for surgery, will preclude a person from having surgery.

The LiteLift™ consultation begins with an introduction to our Newport Beach plastic surgery practice. One of our knowledgeable patient coordinators will escort you to a private consultation room where she will review your completed paperwork and get to know more about your goals and desires. Your patient coordinator will then introduce you to the surgeon you have requested.
Either Dr. Horowitz or Dr. Nichter will:
IMPORTANT: If you are planning on having the LiteLift™ prior to a big event, trip, etc., please let your surgeon know, so he can inform you of how much time to allow for recovery.
The list below are some of the more common procedures combined with LiteLift™:
The ZO® Controlled Depth Blue Peel is an intensive medical grade peel frequently recommended for men or women who have severe sun damage, discoloration, or skin texture issues. It's important to understand The LiteLift® and other facelift procedures do not address these issues. If need be, our doctors will recommend an appropriate non-surgical treatment to address skin issues to further improve your overall result. The ZO® Blue Peel can be done at the same time as the LiteLift.™ Laser and peels are done post-healing. A skincare regimen will also be suggested to maintain optimal skin health and protect your LiteLift investment.
If a patient has severe aging: very loose, sun-damaged skin, severe laxity of the neck, heavy naso-labial folds, drooping upper or lower eyelids and mid-face, they will need to have multiple procedures to achieve a good result. In these cases, it will likely be recommended for the surgery to be performed under general anesthesia. This will allow your surgeon to perform all procedures comfortably in just one surgery and one healing process.

Throughout the healing process you will be seen frequently by your doctor and one of our registered nurses to ensure you are following instructions properly and your recovery is going well. The general healing process can take up to one month for the majority of swelling to subside, incisions to close, sutures to come out, and for bruising to completely go away. This does not mean you are unable to resume regular daily activities, go to work, etc. For those who are susceptible to bruising, we have prescription grade make-up that is very good at hiding the signs of surgery, and is also formulated to allow necessary oxygen to your face for optimal healing.

Sleep and lay with your head elevated using two or three pillows. Staying elevated will help reduce swelling and bruising.
We recommend using a bag of frozen vegetables to ice your face. Wrap the bag with a light towel or paper towels and place on your face in intervals of 20 minutes each hour as needed.
Your surgeon may instruct you to wear a compression facial garment after surgery to reduce swelling. Use as instructed. This promotes healing.
It is normal for your face to feel tight during recovery. This is due to swelling. Firmness under the skin is also a possibility. Once the swelling decreases, your face will settle and start to feel normal again.
Bruising varies from patient to patient. Certain medications like fish oil will cause additional bruising, so be sure to follow all instructions on what medications and supplements not to take before/after surgery. Arnika Montana pills may reduce bruising and speed up healing. You can purchase this at a health food store such as Mother’s Market or Whole Foods. Vitamin C can also be taken before and after surgery to help the underlying connective tissue heal more quickly.
You have been prescribed medications by your doctor. Be sure to take them as instructed. Pain medication should only be taken if needed.
We encourage you to walk around your house as soon as you feel up to it. This will help speed up the healing process. If you lay in bed with very little activity, your recovery will take longer. After 3 days or so, you might feel up to taking short walks outside, which is ok. Just make sure your face gets no sun exposure at all.
What is LiteLift® and how does it differ from a traditional facelift?
The LiteLift® provides:
Not everyone requires a traditional facelift to provide beautiful, long lasting results. The LiteLift® is a minimally invasive option that addresses aging of the face and neck. The LiteLift® is customized to the patient's needs and goals. This is not a one-size fit all approach.
How does the LiteLift® differ from a mini facelift?
"Mini Facelift" is a generalized "catch all" term that can mean different things depending on the doctor you ask. This often makes the real definition difficult for a patient to pin down. It typically only addresses the skin. The, LiteLift®, however, addresses the deeper muscle layer providing the patient with a thorough, natural, long-lasting result.
Who are the best candidates?
Any healthy individual wishing to address the signs of aging in the lower face and neck. Male and female patients wanting to look younger naturally are ideal candidates. Individuals who are unable to have surgery under general anesthesia, may be good candidates to have the LiteLift under local anesthesia.
Does the LiteLift® offer natural results?
YES! This is one of the best attributes the LiteLift® offers. You will still look like yourself, but with a more youthful, rested appearance. The vertical approach to the lift, simply re-positions the facial tissues back where they were prior to the aging process resulting in a very natural look. Imagine a picture of yourself 10 years ago. This is what the LiteLift is capable of achieving.
Is general anesthesia necessary?
In the majority of cases, no. Our primary goal is to ensure the comfort and safety of our patients. About 75% of our patients choose to have the LiteLift® with an oral sedation and local anesthetic. However, we're happy to offer other anesthesia options so our patients are able to choose which one they're most comfortable with.
We offer the following options:
How long will the results of the LiteLift® last?
Forever. You will continue to age which depends on many factors including genetics, lifestyle, and skin elasticity, but you will always look younger. The effects of the LiteLift® will be with you forever.
What is the recovery like? How soon will a patient feel comfortable being seen in public?
Patients usually feel some tightness, firmness under the skin, and moderate swelling & bruising during the first week. Most patients feel comfortable being out in public shortly thereafter. It's best to allow one to two weeks for recovery, depending on the individual.
How does the LiteLift® differ from the Life Style Lift that you hear so much about?
Life Style Lift is a national chain with surgeons of various training & experience; not all have been board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Our surgeons offer several anesthesia options to ensure the patient's optimal comfort.
Why don't all plastic surgeons perform this procedure?
Our doctors have pioneered the LiteLift® procedure. Additionally, it is individualized for each patient, making it not "one size fits all" approach.
How long have Dr. Horowitz and Dr. Nichter been performing LiteLift®?
For more than 10 years. We're proud that our doctors are passionate about continuing their education; they are always researching the latest in plastic surgery techniques to ensure their patients are getting the best possible care and results. Our doctors paid attention to their our patient's comments about wanting a procedure with a quick recovery, shorter incisions, local anesthetic, and a more natural looking result.
