What is Vaser Liposuction?
Vaser (Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance) liposuction is a minimally-invasive fat removal and body contouring procedure that is an alternative to traditional liposuction techniques. We feel that it is easier to sculpt and contour the body using the Vaser method, improving areas such as back rolls, abdominal definition, and waistline.
Who is a Candidate for Vaser Liposuction?
Good candidates for Vaser liposuction are healthy individuals looking for a minimally invasive and quick way to reduce stubborn fat deposits. Those looking for better definition of muscles and contouring of body parts, and are looking for more of a sculpted look can benefit from Vaser over traditional liposuction.
How is Vaser Liposuction Performed?
During a Vaser liposuction treatment, a solution is used to swell the tissue and allow the ultrasound energy to separate the fat cells using a small instrument that is about the size of a pencil. This loosens the fat cells, which can then be gently sucked out using a traditional suction cannula. Treatment takes from one to several hours depending on the number of areas being treated. This treatment is very safe when performed by an experienced, board certified plastic surgeon.
Recovery from Vaser Liposuction
Recovery is short, and usually requires a period of rest for 12-24 hours. Activity is dependent upon how the patient feels. Because there are no large incisions or treatment of underlying muscles that need to heal, there is limited downtime. Vaser is associated with less injury than traditional liposuction, resulting in less pain, swelling, and bruising. Final results can be seen 2-4 months following the procedure as swelling diminishes. Contours can continue to improve up to a year after surgery.
How Much Does Vaser Liposuction Cost?
Vaser liposuction can cost more than traditional liposuction since it is a more advanced technique that requires the experience of skilled surgeons and specialized liposuction equipment. The cost will also vary based on geographic location. Pricing can be discussed during your consultation with one of our board certified plastic surgeons.
